Ford revealed the next-generation Ranger pickup for global markets back in late 2021, previewing the truck that should make its way to U.S. shores sometime later this year. This latest video gives us our first real look at the truck we're actually excited for, the upcoming high-performance Raptor version.
Ford of Europe released a short video on Thursday previewing the next-generation Ranger Raptor, set to be unveiled on February 22, 2022. While the truck is covered in camouflage, it's clear there are some significant upgrades over the standard Ranger. In true Raptor fashion, the suspension seems to have been given some substantial upgrades, as evidenced by the high-speed jumps and turns shown on screen.
The next-gen Ranger Raptor is expected to adopt the same 3.0-liter 400-hp twin-turbo V-6 found in the Bronco Raptor; a huge step up over the current Euro-market Ranger Raptor's 2.0-liter diesel. We don't think the V-6 soundtrack from the video above to be a coincidence.
Ford has yet to actually confirm whether the next-gen Ranger and its Raptor equivalent will come to the U.S., though considering how in-demand anything Raptor-branded is in America right now, it'd be crazy not to offer it here. The company declined to comment when reached by Road & Track via email, so we'll just have to wait and see.
